Kaya became with her almost 3 years, the oldest rat female that ever lived here (Remy had made it closer to the 3). She was the eternal leader in the pack and unfortunately I was not with her when she died. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge shortly before Christmas 2009 (exactly 9 years ago) and was in Mainz at that time. I wanted to save her the 3 hour train/bus trips (I lived in Düsseldorf at that time) between the weekend before Christmas and the holidays. I knew that it could happen every day that she would leave us, but I also knew that my grandmother took good care of her. She was a tough rat, but she also had a big heart. Together with her sister Maja she adopted Phine and Sisca.
